In terms of AF, the 80D is a slightly better video camera, the 7D2 is a better sports/action camera. The 7D2 has built-in GPS but requires the $40-50 WE-1 card in the SD card slot for WiFi. The 80D has built-in WiFi and NFC but lacks built-in GPS. The 7D2 has a USB 3 interface, the 80D is USB 2.

All CF cards are built to the CF standard which specifies how the card communicates with the device. If it says CF on the card it will work regardless of the capacity of the card. If however you put a 8GB SDHC card in an old camera made for SD cards, it wouldn't work. SD cards were limited to about 2GB. I would be concerned that the pins in the camera might be damaged so before doing too much more grab a flashlight and look down into the card slot in the camera and make sure you don't have a pin or two that is bent or folded over.
